Tell us about yourself, your family and where you live!

I live in Arlington, Tx (home to the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers) with my husband, 4 year old son and 2 little doggies. I’m a stay at home mom who loves to craft, bake and play games with my son, my husband works in IT for a company in Dallas and helps my family and I with everything technical although sometimes a bit begrudgingly!

How did you discover Smiley360?

I saw some of the postings from a friend’s missions and decided I needed to check out how she was getting this great stuff.

What do you like about being a Smiley member?

I love getting the chance to try new products to see how they can help benefit not only my family, but the families of my friends.

What has been your favorite Smiley360 mission you have ever done and why?

I would have to say Arm & Hammer Baking Soda was my favorite; it came with a book with a ton of ways to use baking soda that I had never even thought about. I use it now to freshen up my carpet without having some over whelming scent from a carpet deodorizer.

How do you share when you’re on a mission?

I like to share in person with friends and family but I’m also big about using social media as it helps me reach out and talk to people I don’t see every day.

Do you think it is important for brands to listen to their customers? Why?

I think it’s extremely important for brands to hear what the customer wants or needs since it could make or break a product. I think a great example of this is New Coke.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Well this might sound weird but I’d want the ability to think about someone alive or dead and know exactly where they are, I watch a lot of true crime shows and see the heartbreak families have when they can’t find their loved ones even when they know all they’re looking for is body so I’d want to bring relief to them.

What brands or products could you not live without?

My husband uses Just for Men Touch of Gray every month, he’s part Irish so his beard grows in lighter than his hair color. I am thankful for Children’s Mucinex, it really helped my son out this cold season and the Greenies Dog Chews help keep my dogs teeth healthy while eliminating some of that dog breath.

7 Things That Are No Longer Free (And How To Save The Money That They Cost)

one-69528_640Everyone loves to get things for free. In fact: its one of the benefits of being a member of Smiley360! As time has gone on, some things we used to enjoy for free are now beginning to cost money. Don’t let the extra cost get you down! Here are 7 things that are no longer free, and how you can save the money that they cost.

1. Grocery Bags

Many grocery stores are beginning to charge money for the bags that you use to carry your purchases in. To save money, consider buying a reusable shopping bag. It’s a one time fee that helps you avoid other costs and help the environment!

2. Airline Services

A lot of airlines will now charge you for food, entertainment and many other features to enhance your flight. Try to avoid buying extra by packing your own snacks and entertainment forms, and maybe avoiding the extra luxuries that cost extra, such as extra leg room.

3. Television Channels

There are some local channels that are free, but many people today pay for extra television channels and quality-enhancing services. Just ask any Game of Thrones fan that has to pay for HBO! To save money, consider trying to negotiate with your cable provider or watching TV shows with an online service, like Netflix or Hulu.

4. Directory Assistance

Many people aren’t aware that calling 411 has a service fee now! To save the money, try using a phonebook or searching for the number you need on the internet.

5. Food Delivery

Teen Girl Orders Pizza

Paying to have your food delivered used to not be an added cost. With tip included, it seems that the price just keeps rising! Consider picking up food at a restaurant to avoid extra fees.

6. Parks

Believe it or not, you now have to pay to access a lot of National Parks and forests! To save money, try and find public parks with no fees involved or get a National Parks Pass that will help you save money.

7. Bank Services

Old_State_Bank_47150There are so many fees involved with some bank services these days. For some banks, you can opt out of programs to avoid fees. Make sure to always use your own bank in order to avoid fees associated with using another bank.

Can you think of anything else that used to be free? What do you do to save money? Let us know in the comments!

Featured Member: Marci

Marci is a loving mother from Michigan, and this month’s featured member! Read about her experience with Smiley360 below.

Tell us about yourself, your family and where you live!

I am a single parent of a beautiful 12 year old daughter. We have a cat (she is my furbaby) and we live in Michigan.

How did you discover Smiley360?

I discovered Smiley360 when I saw a friend post something from Smiley and I thought it was neat so I had to check it out!

What do you like about being a Smiley member?

I love being a Smiley 360 member because I get to try out many products that I might never get to try. Some products I just don’t buy because I fear I may not like them and do not want to waste the money. With Smiley, I try them and then I get to give my opinion and I lose nothing. I think the best part is that I get to share my opinion with others and I get their opinions back.

What has been your favorite Smiley360 mission you have ever done and why?

The BIC Mark-It Mission was so fun! It gave my daughter and I a great project to do together, we made beautiful wind chimes and had a blast doing it! The markers were awesome and a great set to have in the house. The Centrum Flavor Bursts were great because I did not really take vitamins like I should, these taste great and are easy. Because of this mission, I now take my vitamins daily and so does my daughter!

How do you share when you’re on a mission?

When I am on a mission I share in many ways. I share on Facebook, Twitter, Face2Face, and on the phone with friends and family. Also when I am out in the stores shopping and I see people looking at a product I have tried from Smiley360, I will let them know about the product and give them my opinion on it.

Do you think it is important for brands to listen to their customers? Why?

I think it is very important for brands to listen to their customers because we as the customers are the ones buying and using the products. If we are not happy then we will not continue to buy the product. I also feel that word of mouth is a very big deal and if one customer is unhappy they will tell 10 people and then those 10 people will tell 10 people and it will go on and on. If a brand listens to all the good and bad I think it can make or break a company.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

If I had one superpower it would be…wow one? Can I pick 2? Telepathy, and I really want the power of healing the sick. I have seen 6 very young children under 10 years of age die of cancer in the last few months. I would cure all diseases, I want everyone to be healthy and happy! No parent should have to lose a child. Yes, that is most important to me, no more illness, no cancer or other sick diseases!

What brands or products could you not live without?

I could not live with out my Keurig Brewer, my coffee for my Keurig Brewer, my iPad, my cell phone, and of course my daughter (I know she is not a product, she is a product of me LOL).

Featured Member: Renie

Renie is a DJ who can’t live without her coffee! Read about her experience with Smiley360 below.

Tell us about yourself, your family and where you live!

I’m Renie Osterlund, a DJ in Iowa.. I’ve been married for 5 years, and have an almost 2 year old son. I enjoy crafts, gardening, mom’s groups, meeting up with friends, spending time with my family, and coffee; I can’t get through a day without it.

What do you like about being a Smiley member?

I love Smiley360 because I’m able to try out new products, and let others know what I think about them. I enjoy reading other peoples reviews on products, and that I can score coupons on products too!

What has been your favorite Smiley360 mission you have ever done and why?

I love all of my Smiley360 missions but to pick one favorite I’d have to say it was the BIC Mark-It permanent markers. I scored a free full size package of the markers, and they rocked some fantastic colors. The kit also came with some herb seeds to plant, and I love to garden, so it was a total win-win. The markers are now a staple in my house, they are so useful for everything, especially craft projects.

How do you share when you’re on a mission?

When I’m on a Smiley360 mission I share many different ways. Social media is a must, I post on Facebook, on a few groups on Facebook  and I tweet about it too. I’m just getting into Instagram so I’ve started posting pics of my missions on there. I also tell all of my family members, friends, daycare moms, and coworkers about my missions. I share products with them, and coupons if I get them. I’ve even talked to random strangers in the store about products if they are in an obvious debate. For instance: I had a mission for Seventh Generation products, and one of the samples was Baby Laundry Soap. I ran into a new mom in the detergent aisle and she was reading the label on the bottle. I told her about my experience with Smiley360 and the sample I received from Seventh Generation, and how I preferred it over other brands I had tried. She was thankful for my advice. I also blog about my samples, but that is also a new experience for me and I’m continuing to learn and grow there. I post reviews on various store and product websites, and also on Smiley360 connect.

Do you think it is important for brands to listen to their customers? Why?

I think today customers are all about getting the best deal for their money, so now more than ever it is important for brands to interact with the customers and to value our opinions. Social media is HUGE, and it takes one bad review to go viral for a company to lose many of the customers. I think the same holds true for one good review to help build a company as well. Also with social media, it only takes a few seconds for many people to learn about your experience. Customers are the ones keeping the companies going, if you aren’t making us happy, you aren’t happy. Plus if customers are giving companies/brands advice on products, it’s the easiest way to develop the brand. Obviously it’s what we the consumers want!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

If I could have one superpower I’d want the ability to transport. Think of the places we could go, the things we could do, and the time we’d save!

What brands or products could you not live without?

I couldn’t live without Luvs diapers for my son, Keurig for my daily mug of buzz, and Tide for my laundry. (I could keep going, but I’ll stop there! Haha)

7 Things Every Person Should Do This Summer

beach party

The Dog Days of Summer are finally here, so let these very cute dogs show you how to make the most of the next few months…

1. Watch a World Cup Game

Over 4 billion people around the world have seen at least some of the World Cup this year! The World Cup only comes once every 4 years and is the most popular event in the entire world, so make sure you catch at least one game!

2. See A Movie

Summer is the most popular time to see a movie. A cool theater provides a great escape from the hot outdoors, and many huge blockbusters are released in the summer. Some anticipated film picks for this year are Transformers 4: The Age of Extinction, Hercules, 22 Jump Street and so many more!

3. Eat Ice Cream

Fun Fact: the average American consumes 5.5 gallons of ice cream per year. July is National Ice Cream Month, so it is the perfect month to go to your local ice cream shop and grab yourself a cone!

4. Have a Barbecue

Barbecues are one of the most fun American summer traditions. They are the perfect event to catch up with family and friends, and usually have the most delicious foods of the entire year. Don’t forget your bug spray!

5. Go For A Swim

From swimming pools to your nearest body of water, swimming is one of the best ways to cool off on the hottest days of the year! Have a pool? The ideal swimming temperature to set your pool to in the summer is 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

6. Celebrate the Fourth of July

There is so much going on every year on the Fourth of July! From barbecues to fireworks to a hot dog eating contest, this is one of the most fun and prideful holidays every year. Around 150 million hot dogs will be consumed on Independence Day, which is 1 hot dog for every 2 Americans!

7. Relax!

With hot summer days, you’re going to want to take a break and relax! Schedule some “you time” this summer, where you can just read a book or enjoy some peace and quiet. You deserve it!

What are you doing this summer? Let us know in the comments!
