Grocery List? Check. Coupons? Check. Calculator? Check.
We’re always looking for ways to get the most for our money when we grocery shop. Whether it’s weekly sales in Sunday’s newspaper or price markdowns on the shelves in the store, it pays to be a smart shopper. Here are three tips to help you save on your next trip down the grocery aisle.
- Sign Up for the Loyalty Programs: Many stores offer exclusive rewards and savings to their customers through loyalty programs, with rewards ranging from daily deals to email coupons to cash-back opportunities. Whether you’re a member of one program or several (like me!), loyalty programs offer lots of savings.
- Find the Clearance Section: All stores have final markdown and clearance items. All you have to do is find them! Clearance items are usually marked with special stickers and either found in designated section of the store or near where the product is usually displayed.
- Understand the Deals: When you BOGO (Buy One, Get One) or buy 10 for $5, are you really saving money? Make sure you read the details. Do you have to buy 10 to get the cheaper price or will they individually ring up at $0.50? Does it make sense to BOGO for $5.99 when it’s regularly priced at $2.99?
