What did you learn this month?
Wow so many awesome products!
We had some really awesome missions this month and I enjoyed doing the ones I got in on. Thank you Smiley360!
I’m more than ready to start working with some new missions!! I love to work with Smiley360! Thank you! 🙂
What I have learned is that if I do not have children and if one is single and over 40, you’re “dead” to the consumer marketing world. I am only fit for personal hygiene products and vitamins because, apparently, I’m a useless consumer.
That’s how it feels. I’m not worthy of skincare products or other items that might be “fun” because I’m single and chose to be responsible and not have children.
i missed alot. wow i am glad i found this
So excited to try VitaMints!
Have been selected to review two free products and review, Can’t wait to get started. New to this board.
heard great things about this site. can’t wait to get started.
I just started and wait to receive my first mission. I hope to receive a lot more…….
Thanks
I learned the products in the missions always gives us a brand new perspective on them.
I haven’t gotten any missions this month in the nail yet, but this site has taught me to review and research before buying. I love this site, and I’m so glad I signed up a year ago!
i was really hoping to get this one but congrats to the ones who did get it
I would of love to get this one,I use all the time
I agree Jess,Missions help us learn the products. I also like the happy name of, Smile360 and the colorful wrap around the missions.
This is a great “things we learned” list. I did get a chance to try Centrum’s new VitaMint and it’s going to take some getting used to. Would have loved a chance to participate in the other missions.
I am purchasing the advanced Centrum gummies and Lion yarn, since I have mission ed both products.
PaulaMarie1 Having children means I am an irresponsible adult?
PaulaMarie1 Hi Paula,
To qualify for a Mission, it depends on what type of person the brand wants to reach. We use a number of factors including demographic info, your previous Mission history and answers to surveys. While you may not be right for one Mission, you could be perfect for another!
-MH
tornadosarah PaulaMarie1 I did not intend to imply all people with children are irresponsible. I left out a portion of my thought: I meant to state that people who rely on government assistance and continue to have children are irresponsible. No one should be bringing children into this world whom they cannot afford to care for on their own.
I support public assistance for temporary circumstances; however, I live in an area where the population is overwhelmed with a lot of irresponsible people, often having one child after another starting in their teens, and none of these people can afford to care for their children, nor do they seem to give the children the kind of support they need emotionally to create a good life. Love is not enough – and many of these people seem to fail at love and concern at all.
Smiley360_Melissa PaulaMarie1 I did qualify today for the Arm & Hammer baking soda laundry mission, so I am happy to try it. I look forward to seeing what this product can do for my laundry – especially in boosting the detergent when I wash my towels and linens.
I was supposed to receive the vitamins but never got them?? So can’t review without the product
Great List
I wasn’t able to do any missions, I don’t know why. So I can’t do any reviews.
Apparently they don’t let me have any missions anymore, because missed completing my first and only mission by only 10 points because I didn’t post one item on Facebook for personal security reasons. I went the extra mile on every other part of the mission, but apparently all that other effort doesn’t count. All that for a few bucks worth of vitamins. In all, the effort wasn’t worth the free item. I put a lot of work into writing the reviews, too.
What did I learn this month? Unless you’re willing to lose respect from your friends and be unfriended on Facebook by spamming your timeline with promotional posts with no option to more appropriately channel them to your Facebook pages instead, your work in all other venues will not be rewarded, no matter how much time and effort you put into creating quality reviews for a product on them. You can have the Centrum MultiGummies. My time is worth a lot more than one free bottle of vitamins.
btm14 Thank you for letting us know, but there’s no need to worry just yet!
Smiley kits can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks after the ship date to arrive at your door, depending on what part of the country you are in. There is another shipment of Vitamints went out on 9/30. If you do not receive your kit by 10/26, please let us know and we can further investigate.
Thank you,
freestuffshow
To receive a complete status for Missions, each of the required Sharing Tools must be used at least once and the Mission goal points must be earned. You can check which Sharing Tools still have to be used by looking under the ‘Your Mission Score’ section on the bottom right hand-side of your Mission page. The optional Sharing Tools do not have to be used to receive a complete status for Missions. Sorry for any confusion regarding this!
Let me know if you have any questions!
Smiley360_Melissa freestuffshow
I am going to be brutally honest:
I don’t do twitter parties anymore. It’s actually beyond childish. Who doesn’t agree that twitter parties seem to be a forced effort and they’re seen for what they are: forced “enthusiasm.”
The best way to gauge the genuineness of reviews is to read product reviews and share input among others outside of social networks.
The truth is that these forced publicity stunt twitter parties just don’t influence many people. If anything, I find them personally offensive and don’t want to read the tweets of my friends if they’re participating in a forced twitter effort. It may create a hashtag trending item, but in the end – the forced effort reads as a forced effort and people just disregard that nonsense.
Smiley360_Melissa freestuffshow What confusion? I understood this from the start. That’s not the issue. The problem is that Facebook is a required sharing tool, but there is no flexibility in how it can be used nor is there any concern or accommodation for the privacy and security concerns of Smiley360 members who are required to use their Facebook accounts to promote their client’s products.
By the way folks, that response from Melissa is a cut and paste. If you’re going to respond, at least do it sincerely in your own words. A cut and paste response is just insulting, especially when it doesn’t even address the original comment.
PaulaMarie1 Smiley360_Melissa freestuffshow Well said, PaulaMarie. I’ve done Twitter parties before in other venues, but the one I was able to participate in here was a bit over the top.
To be fair, I’ve only done one so far because they are almost always at 2 PM ET when I’m at work. Since I’m being paid to work and not party on Twitter, I can’t participate. I don’t understand why they can’t do them in the evenings as well. I guess 2 PM is more convenient for Smiley360 employees who get paid to host Twitter parties at work. I’m not being critical, just trying to figure it out.
My son and I will be reviewing Smiley360 on our podcast this weekend. I was hoping for a positive experience with the platform and all it has to offer, but to be honest, I am a little disappointed, especially with some of the responses from the Smiley360 team. I’ve had much better experiences so far on a couple of other platforms.
Although they repeatedly insist on honest reviews from members, I get the impression that they really don’t like to deal with them. That’s just human nature. However, if one doesn’t really want a straight review, one shouldn’t require it. Be careful what you ask for.
Hi freestuffshow and PaulaMarie1. I’m happy to jump in here – we hear your concerns! We do make Facebook a required sharing tool. That’s because almost everybody has Facebook and it’s a great way to spread the word about products. We don’t encourage spamming in any shape or form and only ask members to share their honest and authentic feedback on products that matter to them. Plus, we never post on your behalf.
Honesty is the first of our ten tips for Smiley members on a Mission (as outlined here: http://blog.smiley360.com/ten-secrets-every-smiley-member-should-know). If you’ve ever experienced honest or negative reviews not being accepted on your Mission, I invite you email hello@smiley360.com with a description of what happened and we will investigate. We do not censor any reviews or hide negative comments.
You mentioned that you wish you could post to a Facebook page instead of a personal profile – I’m happy to report that we’re working on this feature for the site! I can’t yet say when this feature will be available, but it is coming.
Twitter parties are a completely optional part of being a Smiley360 member. We know a lot of Smiley members enjoy connecting with a brand and fellow members to discuss a product, and having the chance to win prizes too. They’re fun events we like to host, but by no means do they affect your qualifications for Missions.
I hope my response here helps. If you ever have any other questions or concerns, we’re always here to help!
Donal at Smiley360 freestuffshow PaulaMarie1 Actually, I feel the unspoken pressure to be annoying almost with the sharing tools. There’s so much that’s involved with some missions – and I still have not had any response to my email regarding losing my beloved pet before the recent Purina challenge began.
Donal at Smiley360 freestuffshow PaulaMarie1 Thanks for the reply, Donal, but I still don’t think you quite understand my concerns. In a nutshell:
1. Not everyone uses Facebook
2. Not everyone trusts third party apps with Facebook
3. Single Click Sharing wants access to the following:
– My public profile
– My friends list
– my E-mail address
– My birthday
– Photos a. uploaded by me and b. photos uploaded by others I am tagged in.
I have no problem with
– My public profile. It’s public.
– My E-mail address. You already have it.
– My birthday. I understand that one. It’s a given.
However, I DO have a problem allowing the app to have access to
– My friends list Why do you need that? My friends are MY friends and their identities and other info are not for me to share to third party promotional sites.
– Photos, particularly b.
a. My photos are my photos for sharing with those with whom I entrusted my friendship.
b. Photos uploaded by others in which I have been tagged don’t belong to me at all, and they are sharing them with me as part of our friendship. Since they are not my photos, I do not have their permission to share them outside our circle of friends. There is absolutely no reason for Smiley360, its clients or any other unauthorized entity to have access to them unless they are granted permission by their owner.
Single Click Sharing does allow me to untick the radio buttons for all options except my public profile, which is fine, however, after I do so, it won’t complete the action, and accept my choices so that I can post, because apparently it wants something else on the list as well, which I have not yet been able to determine.
In addition, although Single Click Sharing offer the option for me to post Publicly, to my friends, only to me, or Custom, when I attempt to configure the custom options, it will not post.
I did attempt to post my review on Facebook NUMEROUS TIMES before the end of the mission, but Single Click Sharing WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO when I attempted to post with the options the Single Click Sharing ITSELF allowed me to choose.
To put it simply, I TRIED to complete the mission and I even MANUALLY posted comments and reviews on Facebook in a manner I felt comfortable with that would minimize the eye rolls of those who friend me and maintain some personal dignity. However, because it was a manual process and not through Single Click Sharing, which WOULD NOT ALLOW ME to post them as I needed, these posts did not register with Smiley360 and thus I did not receive any points for them.
I wanted my first mission to be impressive to qualify for future missions, and I put a LOT of effort into it, but Smiley360’s own system worked against me.
One more thing, I understand why you put so much stock in Facebook, but I think that is very misguided. It may be the largest social network around, but it’s not everything. There are so many other marketing venues around that collectively are just as powerful, and perhaps even more powerful than Facebook alone. A lot of Smiley360 members have blogs, including us. We also have a podcast, a media that until very recently was very underrated in terms of marketing potential. By putting all of your eggs in one basket, so to speak, you are missing on some very big opportunities to take your clients, their products and Smiley360 to another level.
We recorded our review of Smiley360 last night and it is now in post production.
Donal at Smiley360 freestuffshow PaulaMarie1 Here is the short version.
I did not complete the mission because Single Click Sharing WOULD NOT LET ME POST WITH THE CONFIGURATION OPTIONS THE APP ITSELF ALLOWED ME TO CONFIGURE.
I love cheese because it taste so yummy and you can add it to almost any kind of food to make it delicious and more edible if you are pickly like me
I was sent the Centrue vitamins…I have been taking them for two weeks now. They do not give me energy or help out my immune system. I did notice a bit of a change in my achy body… they did seem to help me out a bit. As for my immune system, It seems like I haven’t gotten a cold or other illnesses that I usually have.
oops misspelled Centrum…. there we go
I received the nexium tablets…. I do get occasion heat burn do to all the medications I must take. Believe me, they are an awesome product to take. They relieved my heart burn fast and the heart burn would stay away for at least two days. What a relief. 🙂
