Planning a party for kids can be stressful, time consuming and expensive! Here are 6 fun ideas for games that will bring your party to life while staying on time and budget!

1. Treasure Hunt

You can run to the dollar store, order knick-knacks online, or grab a big bag of candy, and there you have your treasure! Hide the treasure either around the house or outside, and make a map that will lead the kids to their prizes. If you don’t want to hide different treats in every spot on the map, you can instead leave a clue at each spot, leading to the next clue. Then, when they reach the end, the kids will find a big prize the whole team can share!

2. Cookie Decorating

You can make cookies from scratch or buy the ready-made dough and simply bake them. Get a whole bunch of different colored frosting and let the kids decorate the cookies how they’d like. Put out various toppings like Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, or edible glitter. After the kids load up on the frosting, they can top the cookies off with more sugary yummyness! After eating one (or maybe two!) they can take the leftovers home in a goodie bag!

3. Obstacle Course

If you gather a whole bunch of your backyard toys and household objects, you can make an obstacle course fit for a young G.I. Joe!

Need some course ideas? Have some fun spinning around a wiffle bat, jumping through hoops, crawling under or jumping  jumping over strings, sliding down a pole, riding a zip line or anything else you can think of, get creative!

4. What’s in the Bag?

Try filling different bags with different objects, and have the kids reach their hands into each bag (no peeking!) to guess what they are feeling. Here are some examples of objects:

  • Silverware
  • Keys
  • Aluminum foil
  • Grapes
  • Sock
  • Coin
  • Shell
  • Candys

The more creative you can be the better!

5. Marshmallow Building

Using toothpicks and mini marshmallows, have the kids build their very own towers. Whichever team can build the tallest tower wins. Use the marshmallows as glue to attach the toothpicks and lets the little builders begin creating!

6. Treat on a String

It’s one of the oldest party games but they don’t call it a classic for nothing! Tie donuts or treats to a string and attach the string to something so the donuts are at a level where the kids have their hands behind their back and attempt to eat it. Be sure to take pictures of the funny faces they make while eating with no hands!
