Earth Day is right around the corner, and here at Smiley360, we’re gearing up to celebrate! Want to join in on the fun?
Show our planet how much you care, with these 8 simple ways to celebrate Earth Day all year long.
1. Shorten Your Shower
By keeping your shower time to under 5 minutes, you can save thousands of gallons of water every month. But don’t worry–you don’t have to count to 300!
Just put on your favorite tune, sing along in your best shower voice, and when the song is over, wash the suds away! Check out #SmileyTunes on Twitter for some sing-along inspiration!
2. Refill, please!
To cut back on the amount of glasses that need washing, and plastic bottles that need disposing, choose just one glass or bottle and refill it throughout the entire day. Want to completely cut out plastic? Choose your favorite reusable glass or aluminum bottle and take it on the go!
Check out some of our favorite reusable bottles, here.
3. Soak Up the Green!
Let’s be honest–no one enjoys scraping dirty pots and pans clean. Instead, let fill your dirty pot with water and a drop of dish soap, leave it overnight, and the next day the dried grease and food will slide right off! The best part? You won’t be running water while scraping away, meaning you can save hundreds of gallons of water each week!
4. Ditch the Plastic
In 2010, over 275 million metric tons of plastic waste was found to be dumped in our oceans.
Just by recycling your plastics and using reusable items (like those refillable water bottles), we can reduce the amount of plastic that pollutes our oceans, and harms our sea life.
5. Brush Up on Responsible Water Consumption!
Leaving the faucet on while brushing your teeth can waste up to 5 gallons of water at once! Instead of letting your faucet flow the entire time you brush, simply leave your water off while you brush, only turning on your tap when you need to rinse!
6. Use Reusable Bags
How many plastic bags do you rack up on just one trip to the grocery store? To reduce waste, ditch those plastic shopping bags and start using reusable ones! For extra convenience, keep fabric totes or reusable plastic bags in your car, so they’re always on-hand for those impromptu trips to the grocery store!
7. Carpool When You Can
Grab your friends, family, and coworkers, and pile in! By carpooling, you help reduce the amount of cars on the road, meaning you’re also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. And as an added bonus, you get more quality carpool time with friends! and other gases polluting the air because there are less cars on the road.
8. Walk or Ride a Bike
What’s better than carpooling? To keep the earth and your body healthy, opt to walk or ride a bike wherever you can!
