When I was younger, my favorite part of any shopping trip to the plaza was the promised trip to Orange Julius. I would always get a strawberry Julius, so delicious and refreshing! If you have never been to an Orange Julius, it is a smoothie shop with all different fresh fruit smoothies.

After trying out multiple different recipes to concoct my own smoothies at home, I finally found one I love (the art of smoothie blending is not a easy as perceived…)

Ingredients
1 cup strawberry, sliced (Fresh is best)
1/2 cup milk (nonfat or lowfat for added nutritional value)
1/2 cup water (less water and substitute ice cubes for an extra cool drink)
1/4 cup caster sugar or 1/4 cup superfine sugar
1/2-2/3 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
1. Slice up fresh strawberries until you have enough to fill a one cup measure.
2. Add to a blender or food processor, or if you only have a stick mixer, just put it in a large pyrex jug.
3. Add rest of ingredients.
4. Blend until smooth.

You can always mix it up and use different fruits to customize your smoothie, what is your favorite type of fruit smoothie? Give it a try, add your own touch and let me know how it turns out! 🙂
