If you’re anything like me, every time the gas gauge lingers anywhere near the ‘E’, you get anxious. But, fear not! These smart tips can help out:
* Check your tire pressure. Keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure can increase gas mileage by over 3%! On the other hand, tires that aren’t properly inflated will cut your mileage 0.3% at every pound-per-square-inch.
* When changing oil, look for “energy” or “resource” conserving oil to help improve your fuel economy. * Simply slowing down can do the trick too. Gas mileage decreases at speeds above 60 mph. Each 5mph over 60 costs you roughly $0.24 per gallon.
* Avoiding traffic and toll booth lines are not only an annoyance, but are costing you. An idling car costs you, as does stop-and-go traffic. Download an App for traffic, or turn on the traffic setting on your GPS to find alternate routes.
