Do you ever wonder who approves all the posts on your Missions? We have a dedicated team of Community Managers who read your posts and make sure the Smiley community is heard and happy. So, we’re giving you a behind the scenes look at who they are! First up is Donal. Get to know him below!
Tell us about yourself and give us a fun fact!
I joined the Smiley team almost five years ago. I’m originally from Ireland and moved here to New York on St. Patrick’s Day!
Fun fact: When I was a kid I made it to the third round of the National Pokemon Championships – still one of my proudest achievements!
What do you love about Smiley?
I love that Smiley is a fun way to make people happy. These days, it’s nice to get something other than bills and bad news in the mail. Receiving a Smiley kit is like getting a birthday gift when it’s not your birthday… there’s no better feeling than that! I also love how Smiley brings people together. Every day we hear stories of how Smiley members use their Missions to connect with friends, family members, coworkers and even a stranger or two. It’s really special that we get to facilitate that!
What do you look for when monitoring posts?
One word…creativity! I love to see Smiley members go above and beyond on their Missions. The brands we work with get excited when they see Smiley members enjoying their products, telling fun stories, posting pictures that show them using the product and getting their friends involved too. We want to make sure that the effort a Smiley member puts into their Missions pays off – by sharing quality posts & photos, you’re much more likely to get invited back to more fun Missions!
What advice would you give Smiley members to make sure their posts get approved?
Take your time and really think about what you want to share. A typical Smiley Mission lasts 8-10 weeks, so that’s plenty of time to try a product, form your opinion, take cool photos and spread the word. It’s not a race to finish a Smiley Mission – it’s about the journey!
