August is one of the few months that doesn’t possess a federal holiday.  In my opinion this is a relief because there is nothing to prepare for or stress over.  It’s like a vacation from holidays.  August is a month to take some time for yourself and your family.  With the heat like it is this summer, my suggestion is to go see a movie.  There are many great movies coming out in August with a wide variety of genres, so go see more than one.  I have put together a list (via IMDB.com) of the some of the top movies scheduled to be released in August.  Take a look and let us know if there are any we left out you are looking forward to seeing.

August 5:

The Change Up

Synopsis: A comedy in which a married guy switches bodies with his best friend in order to woo his co-worker.

Would you like to switch lives with one of your friends for a little while?

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Synopsis: In present day San Francisco, a scientist (James Franco) looks for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by experimenting on a chimpanzee named Caesar. The development of animal intelligence brings about a war for supremacy between humans and apes.

Sci-Fi seems to be a big hit this summer.  Are there any other Sci-Fi movies you are looking forward to seeing this summer?

August 10:

The Help

Synopsis: In 1962 Mississippi, aspiring writer Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan (Emma Stone) returns home after college, where unexpected friendships with African-American maids Aibeleen Clark (Viola Davis) and Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer) result in a book that gives a previously unheard voice to a community’s suffering.

Have you read this book?  Are you looking forward to seeing the movie?

August 12:

30 Minutes or Less

Synopsis: Two fledgling criminals (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) kidnap pizza delivery guy Nick (Jesse Eisenberg), strap a bomb to his chest, and inform him that he has mere hours to rob a bank. With the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari), Nick must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own strained relationship as the clock ticks.

It seems like the actors are popping up in a lot of movies and television series lately.  What have you seen them in?

Final Destination 5

Synopsis: Survivors of a suspension-bridge collapse learn there’s no way you can cheat Death.

The plot to these is always the same.  Which has been your favorite so far?

August 19:

Conan the Barbarian

Synopsis: A Cimmerian warrior (Jason Momoa) on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village encounters a supernatural threat to the nations of Hyboira.

Have you seen the original?  How do you think this one will be?

Fright Night

Synopsis: Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Colin Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (David Tennant), the opportunistic host of his favorite TV show, to help him take down Jerry and his guardian.

Another vampire movie?  Are you into this genre or is it getting old?

One Day

Synopsis: After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Em are revisited each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day.

Interesting concept.  Are there any of your old friends you meet up with every year?

August 26:

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

Synopsis: A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.
