As someone who has lived my entire life in Michigan I can attest to the fact that seasonal depression is a very real thing. I still remember the first time it really hit me as to why people get so down during the winter. During college I worked in an appraisal office, as an assistant to the owner. I was putting together an appraisal and came across a file from one that we had done on the same home a few years earlier. One appraisal had pictures of the home from a snowy day in winter and the other had pictures of the home from a sunny day in spring or summer; to say the pictures were different would be an understatement. The winter picture was practically devoid of all color, while the other photos were rich with color. The difference was nothing short of striking.
The above are pictures of the same park in both Winter and Spring and no, the picture on the left is not in black and white. Crazy right? The above is why I’m currently counting down the days until Spring is here.
Spring is without a doubt my favorite season. The weather starts warming up, we get to see the sun again, and everything starts to bloom. It makes me think of new beginnings and I can’t help but smile when I see the beauty of the world around me starting to awaken from a long, cold winter.
Spring brings with it lighter evenings, beautiful flowers, green grass, the warmth of the sun, and so much more! I can’t wait to go for long walks, to watch my daughter play soccer, and to start teaching her to ride a bike. There are so many things to look forward to, I can’t wait!
How about you? Do you love spring as much as I do or is another season your favorite? Please share in the comments!
