Mother’s Day falls on May 8th this year. Some women have been enjoying this day for many years and it never gets old. But just like all of life’s firsts, one’s first Mother’s Day is particularly special. It becomes a day to celebrate the step into motherhood. Motherhood being a full time job, which comes with no employee handbook enclosed with a description of duties.
When a woman adds the “mother” title to her already existing list of titles, she’s put into a position where she seeks to never disappoint. The day evokes a new found mixed feeling of joy and pride. And for that, whether she’s a wife, relative or friend to you, she deserves to feel special. Save all the generic flowers and cards for future mother’s days. Treat her to a special dinner, buy her a charm bracelet, give her a day off. Still generic? Try these:
New pillows: A good pillow can help keep the neck and spine aligned, aiding better sleep posture, resulting in more restful sleep. She’s probably not getting much, so make the little worthwhile.
A handcrafted, recycled vase: She’s going to get a ton of flowers. She’ll need a place to hold her favorites.
DIY: If there’s something new you know she might want to try, print out a do-it-yourself project and spend some time doing it together. It’ll be a way to get her creativity flowing, which motherhood will require.
A picnic: If it’s a great weathered day, get her and the baby out of the house and bring an assortment of snacks. There’s no better feeling than a carefree one.
A keepsake box: Mothers love to keep little things to signify their kids growth and changes. Their first pair of shoes, bathtub pictures, you know the stuff they’ll be embarrassed about in another decade or so.
Baby’s birthstone: It can be put on a necklace or a ring and it’ll be a symbol she’ll cherish.
